Senior Process Researcher

 

The Senior Process Researcher is the technical authority and lead innovator for advanced recycling process development within Trinseo.

This role exists to lead the conception, development, scale-up, and industrial deployment of next-generation recycling technologies, bridging fundamental science with commercial implementation across sites and geographies.

The role has end-to-end leadership accountability for process technology performance—from laboratory concept through pilot operation to commercial readiness—and shapes technology strategy, standards, and best practices for the business. The incumbent leads complex, high-impact technical decisions that influence capital deployment, operational risk, and long-term competitiveness of Trinseo’s sustainability portfolio.

Verantwoordelijkheden

  • Lead the development, optimization, and industrialization of advanced recycling process technologies from laboratory through pilot to commercial scale
  • Lead process scale-up strategy, defining operating envelopes, design bases, and scale-up rules for safe and robust commercialization
  • Lead pilot plant campaigns, including operating strategy, troubleshooting, risk assessment, and continuous optimization
  • Lead translation of experimental and pilot data into validated process models, design guidelines, and technology standards
  • Lead identification and prioritization of step-change improvements in process efficiency, robustness, safety, and product quality
  • Lead critical technical problem solving for complex, cross-disciplinary process challenges
  • Lead major technology workstreams within advanced recycling programs, including technical scope definition, risk assessment, and execution strategy
  • Act as senior technical interface to external partners, technology providers, and academic or industrial collaborators

Kwalificaties

  • MSc or PhD in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, Applied Chemistry, or a related field
  • Typically 5-10 years of progressive engineering and process development experience
  • Demonstrated experience leading process technology development and scale-up in industrial or pilot environments
  • Deep expertise in process development, scale-up, and operability of complex chemical processes
  • Strong command of mass & heat transfer, multiphase systems, and process safety fundamentals
  • Proven ability to lead technical judgment under uncertainty and manage scale-up and technology risk
  • Ability to influence decisions across functions and leadership levels without formal authority
  • Comfortable leading hands-on work in lab and pilot environments while maintaining strategic
