We are seeking a motivated Research Specialist with a strong chemical background to join our dynamic team at the Polymer Research Center (PRC) in Terneuzen. This R&D facility located in Terneuzen is one of our main hubs focusing on sustainable innovations and drives the developments on new recycling processes for our product portfolio. Besides research laboratories, it also includes several pilot units. In this role, you will be at the forefront of sustainable innovation, supporting various research projects by performing laboratory experiments, developing new technologies in the lab, and aiding the scale-up processes.

• Pilot plant support: Conduct laboratory experiments on incoming feedstocks and work closely with the operational team to facilitate implementation in the pilot. Communicate the findings and work closely together to drive process improvements.
• Innovation: Design and execute various non-routine lab experiments, showing your creativity and problem-solving skills.
• Collaboration: Work closely together with the analytical and physical labs for material testing. Relay finding to the stakeholders and facilitate the implementation of new processes and technologies.
• Data analysis: Interpret test results and independently adjust experiments based on the data obtained.
• Equipment maintenance: Set up and maintain laboratory equipment.
• Communication: Document, report, and present the results to the stakeholders.
• Safety: Ensure compliance with safety regulations and actively contribute to maintaining a safe workplace.

• Master’s degree (preferred) or Bachelor’s degree in chemistry or a related field.
• Strong technical background in polymer science and a thorough understanding of physical and chemical processes. Affinity for organic chemistry.
• Excellent problem-solving skills with a passion for innovation.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic growth environment. Self-motivated, proactive, and agile.
• Strong communication and writing skills in both English and Dutch.
